Believing that a visit by Dr. Doe will be mutually beneficial, Texas A&M University/the Texas AgriLife Research and the visiting scholar/scientist agree as follows:

A.  PURPOSE OF VISIT

EXAMPLE:

Dr. John Doe will spend a period of approximately six months, beginning in May 1998, at the _________ Research Center in __________, Texas.  Dr. Doe will be working with Dr._______ to _____________________________________________.

B.  RESEARCH OR EDUCATION ARRANGEMENTS OR ACCOMMODATIONS

EXAMPLES:

Dr. Doe will be provided with laboratory and desk space by _______________________.  He will
also be provided with access to a microcomputer for evaluating data and for word processing.

Reasonable clerical assistance required by Dr. Doe in fulfilling his responsibilities, will be available
through Dr._______'s secretarial staff.

C.  USE OF RESEARCH INFORMATION

EXAMPLE:

Texas AgriLife Research reserves the right to publish the results of the
investigations supported by the department/center/station.  Acknowledgment of the support received
from Dr. Doe will be made in such publication if desired.

D.  FINANCIAL PROVISIONS

EXAMPLE:

Dr. Doe or his sponsor will provide funds to cover all expenses involved with the visit, including all
transportation costs to and from the department/center/station.  Dr. Doe will also be responsible for
making financial arrangements for housing, food, health insurance and domestic travel while in
__________, Texas.
 

E.  NO PROVISIONS FOR BENEFIT COVERAGE

EXAMPLE:

No salary or wages, medical insurance, workers’ compensation insurance, or other fringe benefits will
be provided by the department/center/station during Dr. Doe's visit.

F.  USE OF EXPERIMENT STATION VEHICLES/DRIVING REQUIREMENTS

EXAMPLES:

No Experiment Station vehicle will be provided, nor made available for Dr. Doe during his visit. It
is understood that any use of a vehicle by Dr. Doe is not authorized, except in a bona fide emergency
where the “good Samaritan” principle would apply, and is not covered by the A&M System’s liability
coverage for motor vehicles.

OR: An Experiment Station vehicle may be driven by or will be made available for Dr. Doe provided
that evidence of a valid vehicle operators permit/license and satisfactory driving record can be
established.  Information from  Driving Record Information Request from the State of ________,
along with a copy of Dr. Doe’s driver’s license must be on file prior to any vehicle use.

    G.  TEXAS AGRILIFE RESEARCH AND TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY
    SYSTEM INVENTION AGREEMENT

EXAMPLE:

Dr. Doe will sign a System Invention Agreement (see Attachment B).

H.  LIABILITY RELEASE AND HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT

EXAMPLE:

Dr. Doe will sign a Liability Release and Hold Harmless Agreement (see Attachment C).

I.  ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

The department/center/station is responsible for ensuring that the individual's language skills are
sufficient to accomplish the objectives of the visit in a satisfactory manner.
