21.99.99.X1.05 FARM EQUIPMENT OPERATION AND
MAINTENANCE

1.00 GENERAL
The safe operation and proper maintenance of farm equipment provides endurance for the equipment and enhanced safety for the operators.
2.00 PROCEDURES
A. Train personnel to operate the equipment safely following Texas AgriLife Extension Service (Extension Procedure 24.01.04.XP7, Safety for Agricultural Equipment, and 24.01.04.XP8, Safety Equipment for Tractors.B. Perform routine maintenance (to include lubrication, oil and oil filter replacement, air filter replacement, battery check) as recommended by the manufacturer/dealer.
C. Keep maintenance records for all equipment serviced for as long as the equipment is owned.
D. House equipment, where possible, to protect it from the effects of weather.
E. Number and identify all equipment in accordance with the procedures in Extension Procedure 21.99.99.X1.01, Inventory Procedures.
F. Replace obsolete, surplus or equipment damaged beyond economical repair by trading or by selling.
