24.02.02.X1.05 PESTICIDE DISPOSAL

Supplements System Policy 24.02 and System Regulation 24.02.02 with its additional requirements

1.00 GENERAL

Unit heads are responsible for removing and disposing of unwanted or outdated pesticides on a regular schedule.

2.00 PROCEDURES

Unit heads will:

A. Review all pesticide holdings and inventories at the unit annually;

B. Ensure that only actively-used pesticides are maintained in inventory;

C. Ensure that quantities of pesticides acquired can be used in a shelf life period and that older products are used first;

D. Require suppliers to reassume possession of unused quantities of experimental pesticides;

E. Dispose of unwanted pesticides annually;

F. Maintain a current pesticide inventory;

G. Prohibit the occurrence of unlabeled, unknown pesticides by ensuring that all pesticide containers are labeled to identify the contents; and

H. Develop a written plan to implement this pesticide disposal procedure at the unit.
