34.05, Smoking Policy
1.00 PURPOSE
To provide guidelines concerning smoking in Texas AgriLife Extension Service (Extension) facilities and vehicles.
2.00 GENERAL
To provide the highest level of protection for the health of all employees and visitors using or working in Extension facilities and vehicles and to comply with System Policy 34.05, Smoking Policy, all Extension facilities and vehicles are hereby designated as "smoke free."
3.00 PROCEDURES
3.01 All on-campus employees will follow the Texas A&M University Smoking Regulation.
3.02 Each administrative head of Extension facilities will ensure the following:
A. Notices are posted at each entrance which indicates that the facility is a smoke free area.
B. An area adjacent to the facility is designated as a smoking area. The following guidelines may aid in the selection and establishment of an appropriate area.
1. The smoking area will be covered if possible.
2. Do not designate an area where non-smokers will be in direct contact with the smoke when entering or exiting a building.
3. Provide non-flammable containers with lids for disposal of cigarette or cigar stubs.
3.03. For facilities or vehicles used for Extension functions but not owned or controlled by Extension (i.e. County Extension Offices, meeting space rented or leased for Extension programs, etc.), the responsible individual should ensure that the facilities or vehicles are smoke-free to the extent feasible.
